Synopsis: Isla Rosewood is creating a new life for herself and her sweet nephew Elliot in their cosy, yellow-brick family cottage, brimming with special memories. Living in Sandcastle Bay was never part of Isla’s plan but, after her brother Matthew’s tragic accident, her whole world changed as she unexpectedly became a mother to the little boy she adores so much.
Leo Jackson was always known as Matthew’s fun-loving and wild best friend. But now Matthew is gone, it’s time to put his colourful past behind him. His role as Elliot’s godfather is the most important thing to him. And even though Leo and Isla are two very different people, they both want to give Elliot the childhood he deserves.
As the three of them enjoy time together watching fireworks, baking cakes and collecting conkers, Isla begins to see a softer side to charming Leo, with his twinkling eyes and mischievous sense of humour. And, despite herself, she begins to fall for him.
But does Leo feel the same way? Isla knows their situation is complicated but is it too complicated for true love… or will the year end with a happy new beginning for them all?

Kat's Review: LOVED, LOVED, LOVED this book! It's been a while since I've read one of Holly's books and I was gobsmacked to realise that I have missed two books prior to this one. It certainly made not the slightest bit of difference to me so there is nothing wrong with reading this out of order from other books in my opinion. Isla Rosewood is our lead character along with her nephew Elliott and her brothers best friend Leo Jackson. Living in Sandcastle Bay was not something she had planned but now she has had time to get used to it she wouldn't have it any other way.
What she didn't bank on was Leo Jackson, her absolute best friend and support system all rolled into one. He has become somebody who she not only relies on, but as Elliot's Godfather, somebody who Elliot looks up to. When somebody knocks on the door one day everything changes. Isla suddenly realises that everything she has come to love could be taken away in a heartbeat. This book was so engaging with characters I absolutely loved and I am surprised at myself that I have somehow missed two other books set in this area. There were additional characters I liked reading about too but they were all in the background of this story, albeit all playing important parts as the story progresses.
I was truly disappointed to discover that I was near to the end and I almost tried to drag the story out by reading slower but that didn't work. Luckily for me I have another two books of Holly's I haven't yet read so I have those to look forward to. An absolutely magical book that I thoroughly loved.
